Yu Hui

1960, Nanjing China

Introduction

Yu Hui studied Gongbi painting from her father Yu Jigao, who is a famous bird & flower painter. In 1983, she received a BA degree from the Jiangsu Traditional Chinese Painting Institute, and in 2006, graduated from the Academic Research department at Art School of Peking University, Beijing, China. Yu’s works, consisting of birds and flowers, inherit the Song Dynasty Gongbi paintings’ polished style. She succeeds in combining traditional and modern Gongbi styles through her use of pastel colors, reflecting the Chinese cultural love and respect for nature.

In 1997, Alisan Fine Arts held an exhibition in London for Yu Hui and Xu Lei, and on the exhibit’s opening day, all works were already sold. At Fine Arts Asia 2014, Yu exhibited her latest works.

Yu Hui has won many national awards and her works have been shown in London, America, Canada, Hong Kong and around China.
