Chan Keng-tin

born 1979 Hong Kong
lives in Hong Kong

Hong Kong ink painter Chan Keng-tin is renowned for his literati landscape paintings, particularly his recent works that express a flattened and abstract style. These paintings evoke a sense of immersion in the vast wilderness, marking a significant phase in Chan’s transition from traditional to contemporary art. He graduated from the Fine Arts Department of Chinese Culture University in Taipei, Taiwan, in 2003. Between 2008 and 2010, he pursued advanced studies in landscape painting at the Research Centre of China National Academy of Painting in Beijing. He also conducted research on landscape painting in Lu Yushun's studio under the guidance of Lu Yushun. Currently, Chan is a visiting painter at the Shenzhen Fine Art Institute, and a lecturer at the School of Continuing and Professional Studies at Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Over the years, Chan has received several prestigious honours, including the Hong Kong Contemporary Art Award in 2012; being selected for three consecutive sessions, the 11th, 12th, and the 13th National Art Exhibition in China in 2009, 2014, and 2019; and in 2024, being selected for the Cathay Pacific Airways' “Gallery in the Skies”, a curated exhibition program for the business class cabins of a new fleet of commercial airplanes.

Alisan Fine Arts has been collaborating with the artist since 2024 and exhibited his works at Fine Art Asia in Hong Kong in both 2024 and 2025.

Chan's paintings are held in the collections of various art institutes, including Gu Yuan Art Museum, Zhuhai; Shenzhen Fine Art Institute, Shenzhen, China; Hong Kong Museum of Art; Hong Kong Heritage Museum; Cathay Pacific Airways; Rongg Bao Zhai, Hong Kong.
