Yuen Ka-yee, Angela

Angela Yuen graduated from the Academy of Visual Arts, Hong Kong Baptist University in 2014. In 2016, she had her artist in residency at Red Gate Gallery, Beijing. From 2023 to 2025, she created the site-specific installation Land ho! for Hong Kong Museum of Art, and in 2024, she created the on-site installation petit h for Hermès flagship store in Hong Kong. She has had 5 solo exhibitions in recent years and has participated in group exhibitions in Hong Kong, Beijing, Melbourne, New York, London, and other cities, including The Jealous Potter at Ullens Centre for Contemporary Art in Beijing in 2025.

In 2019, she was the finalist at Sovereign Asian Art Prize and Ping Yao International Sculpture Festival. In 2021, she was the finalist at 26th Ifva awards (Media Art Category). Her works were collected by Hermès, Paris & Hong Kong; Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Chengdu (CDETO); The Middle House, Shanghai; Henderson Land Group - Harbour East & One Innovale; Hotel Stage; Isola, IFC; Ladies Recreation Club, Hong Kong. Private collectors includes Living Collection; Alan Chan; Thomas Shao, Hong Kong; Adam Collections, Sydney.

Angela Yuen’s art practice focuses on urban culture and the theme “Neighbourhood”. Yuen highlights the symbolic meaning of her selected found objects and transforms them into her own artistic language. Under rapid urban development, Hong Kong people experience ever-evolving physical and social environment. Through collecting manufactured objects, Yuen rediscovers the human warmth she was once used to as a child growing up in this city. “Neighbourhood” is not only a theme of her practice, but also deeply embedded in her creative process.

In 2025, Alisan Atelier’s group exhibition Spirit in Flux marks the gallery’s first collaboration with the artist. Recently, her solo exhibition Mirage was held at Hong Kong Visual Arts Centre until 9 Feb 2026; and group exhibition Glow at Exploratorium Museum in San Francisco, USA until 25 Jan 2026. Her work is on view at Live: Hong Kong Art Exhibition, Hong Kong Museum of Art, Hong Kong from 20 Mar, 2026 to 5 May 2027, Peninsula Hong Kong's Art in Resonance and Central Yards Edible Art Fair in March, 2026.
